Bald Eagles, the symbol of our freedom, are common along the river.

Close up encounters with these majestic birds are a highlight of every trip along the river.

Whitetail deer roam the riverbank in early morning fog and

the golden summer twilight of late evening.

Osprey, one of natures best fishers, hover overhead search the clear water with keen eyes,

diving into the water in their hunting"stoop", often

emerging with a fish they are barely able to lift on their strong wings.

American Bittern are one of the many varieties of wading and shore birds inhabiting the banks of the Kennebec.
